Description of Services
Swedish Massage: The use of various strokes and kneading techniques that warm up and work muscle tissue, releasing tension and breaking up adhered tissues. It is softer and gentler than deep tissue but can include deep pressure. This is total body massage that most people think of when they think of massage.
Deep Tissue Massage: The use of more intense and forceful massage techniques that penetrate deeper into underlying muscles and focus more on problem areas to correct postural distortions and hypercontracted muscles.
Barefoot Bar Deep Tissue Massage
(Wendy's Walkabout Massage): The therapist stands on the table on either side of the client and delivers the treatment using long, sweeping motions with the feet. Trigger Point therapy: Soft tissue manipulation techniques are used to locate and release spasms and hypercontracted tissues and eliminate muscle "knots" that cause referred pain. For an excellent explanation about what trigger points are and how they create pain click here.
Myofascial release: Slow friction is used to melt, lengthen, spread, and redefine connective tissues that can inhibit tissue flexibility and contribute to pain. For an excellent explanation of what fascia is and how it can cause pain click here.
Hydrotherapy: Use of water in one of it's three forms (liquid, solid, or vapor) at specific temperatures for therapeutic purposes.
Bamboo Massage: Bamboo and Rattan tools are warmed with a heating pad. The application of the warm bamboo melts away tensions while at the same time creating a deeply relaxing and soothing experience.

Thai Herbal Compress Massage: A blend of traditional Thai herbs are wrapped and tied in cotton bundles, then heated in a steamer and used to massage the body to improve circulation, soften and nourish the skin, ease sore muscles, and reduce pain. To watch an example of this treatment click here
Pulsing and Rebalancing massage ( influenced by theTrager Method) : Use of rhythmic compressions, jostling, vibration, and rocking to relax tight muscles and coax body structures to let go without undue force. To watch a good example of this treatment click here
Lymphatic Drainage Massage: A very gentle massage using techniques that help increase the bodies natural flow of lymph by increasing lymphatic circulation through the body's natural filtration systems. Shirodhara: (Shiro means head and Dhara means flow of warm oil) A nourishing, rejuvenating and relaxing treatment in which a stream of warm sesame oil is poured very slowly back and forth across the forehead for 20 to 30 minutes. To see and learn more about shirodhara click here
European Body Wrap: Whole body or partial body spa treatments that include application of products that exfoliate and moisturize the skin, stimulate circulation, and remove impurities. Tissue becomes warm for additional massage techniques.
Thai Foot Reflexology: A relaxing yet invigorating treatment of the feet that, after an application of a special Thai balm, uses a variety of hands-on techniques including graceful two handed palm movements, stretches, circular massage movements and thumb pressure along with the use of a special Thai stick made out of teak for specific acupressure to stimulate organ reflex points on the soles of the feet.

Hot Stone Reflexology: Various sizes of smooth lava stones are heated, placed on accupressure points on the leg and ankle, used to massage the leg and foot, and used to apply pressure to reflex points on the foot. To see some examples of hot stone reflexology techniques click here.
Infant Massage: Parent(s)or caregiver is instructed how to massage an infant to improve range of motion, improve and maintain health and increase emotional attachment. Massage for infants help them grow and develop physically, emotionally, socially, and psychologically. (Read my June 2012 news article to learn specific benefits)
Prenatal Massage: An gentle & relaxing massage for the mother-to-be that can reduce the stress and ease discomforts related to her changing body as it nurtures a growing new life. Many women report that massages during pregnancy reduced their discomfort and need for medications during labor and delivery.
